Hi, I work at the animal hospital in Norco, Ca owned by Dr. Stoddard, inventor of the Avid microchip most commonly used on dog's. He had an African Grey Congo named George, George now lives at the hospital and he mainly stays in his cage all day, he is a plucker and does not like women, but he likes me. I am not a man :) He let's me touch his feet and he will hold my finger, he also let's me touch his wings, he has bit me and he has snapped at me, but I feel I have been making progress with him. He talks to me in a soft voice, the same kind I talk to him in. I don't think he is mean, I think he is scared and by no means will he leave his cage. I want to interact with him more, I want to take him out of there and let him walk around. But he will not let me get that close yet, am I making progress being able to touch him through the cage and having him talk to me? Everyone says he only likes men, how can I get him to bond with me? How can I get him to get out of his cage? Tommorow, I am bringing him a banana, I don't think he hardley ever get's fruits, but he does get fresh vegetables. I am really getting attatched to George and it seems like I tend to spend time talking to him just to hear what he will say even though it usually is always the same thing. He says "Hi George" "Hello" he sneezes, coughes, and sometimes he makes this noise, almost like a schreech, but not a screech. What does it mean? Is he threatened? Other times he makes a very soft noise, like a chirp, is he sad? Can someone please tell me how I can connect with him and how I can get him to like me? Please help, I want to help this beautiful little guy.... Read More »
